Celebrate The Power Mixer 2nd Year Anniversary Artistic Style!

In September of 2009 Malaika Jabali approached me with a revolutionary idea, The Power Mixer. ‘Let’s unite our three sources of Power’, she said. I was a college student at the time and eager to get involved, little did I know the journey The Power Mixer would lead me on. In the beginning Malaika coordinated the events and I acted as an assistant. In 2010, however, the tables shifted and I was charged with the task of coordinating the events single-handedly. I was overflowing with ideas and found myself overwhelmed by the task until I realized that the essence of The Power Mixer was networking. The more I reached out to business and community leaders as well as residents of the local community, the more inspired I became and in turn, inspired community.

Now, two years later we as a community organization have hosted events with Nina Brown, V103 super-producer, City Council President, Caesar Mitchell, and Founder of the Freedom Party in New York, Councilman Charles Barron, just to name a few. Recently, we have collaborated with the Georgia Peace and Justice Coalition and the Collard Green Cultural Festival to host events, and this is just the beginning. More than a lot of hard work goes into coordinating and executing these events and it would not be possible without the support of the community. Usually are topics are heavily political but this month we lighten the mood with an Anniversary celebration in collaboration with Royal Flush Studios.

Join Us Saturday, September 17 for an Art Market and Celebration as a token of our appreciation and stay tuned for our next Mixer in October “State of Education”
